The second book of The Kreggorian is on pace for its intended March 2013 release. I have completed the rough draft, and revision begins in earnest in May. I could certainly have it ready for publication by autumn, but the extra time will allow me to ensure it is as good as it can be. Which is what every writer should strive for, producing a product they are proud of!
Book Two, “Magus” will follow the continuing adventures of Ben Karr from the first book, while introducing a fantastic new character, Varren Kade. The story is alive with political intrigue, espionage and murder! Plus, the readers will be happy to hear that the Fifthwind has increased in strength and its toll on the world has become even more apparent. Magic is around every corner, and myths and legends of old are still surfacing. All in all, this book will surely be an adventure you will not want to miss!

After many years of toiling, writing, and dreaming, the first book of The Kreggorian is available in both Print and Digital formats. FIFTHWIND is a classic tale in more ways than one. It captures the realism of an in-the-trenches look at medieval warfare, while embracing the wonders of magic and the suspense of a classic creature-feature. This character driven story, will bring you back to when you still believed there were heroes in the world and awaken a longing deep within for adventure. I’m glad you are here to take this journey with me.
A lot of work went into writing the novel, of course, but an equal amount of work still awaits me in the form of marketing and promoting this book to the world. Website design, social networking, advertising, book-signings, contests, giveaways… all necessary in today’s world of independent writers and publishers. Though there is clearly a rough road ahead, I can honestly say I look forward to it.
On the writing front, don’t think for a second that I’ve forgotten that this is a series! The second book of The Kreggorian is well into its final stages and I fully expect to be announcing its release about this time next year. Two books, two consecutive spring releases; it’s not a bad way of doing things.
I’d like to thank a lot of people for helping to make this happen. First and foremost is the Great Cobalius, followed by my wife and two sons, who were always hungry to hear more. Last, but most certainly not least, I send out my heartfelt thanks to the wonderful members of The FIFTHWIND FORUM. One, could not hope to have better friends.
Marketing begins in earnest next week. I will be sure to keep you posted on how things are going and how you can help!

The initial release of the ebook edition has done very well. I have only mentioned this book to a handful of close friends and some “internet colleagues” and during the first few weeks, I have amassed 478 downloads from Amazon.com. Now, many of those were the result of a free-download promotion, but it is still a very nice feeling to know that my book is out in the world and people might even be enjoying it.
But, the real news is that the print edition of “Fifthwind” is ever-so close! My novel will be available to the world in physical, print format in only about 10 days. Soon, I will be able to say that “I did it!”
Cant wait…

As some of you have noticed, I’ve put a lot of work into this website lately. It still needs a lot of work in some areas, but overall, I think it is a nice, inviting experience for any would-be visitors. I’m a fledgling hand at html and php, but through trial and error, I’ve managed to pull off most of the things I was hoping to do. I was particulary proud of myself for the scrolling sample chapters with the cover-art in the side panel (Here).
I’ve never much liked any pictures of myself, and the only ones that I have are really from my hikes and climbs throughout the southwest. I was able to find a couple of presentable pictures for use as author photos, but I hope to do something more professional-looking soon. To tell you the truth, I think that showing myself “in the wild” as a normal person with normal hobbies is probably not a bad thing. I’ve got a growing collection of photos of me on various mountains on the “Ken’s World” page. Check it out, and you’ll see what I like to do in my spare time.
Lastly, it must be mentioned that the FIFTHWIND FORUM will be re-opening its doors on Friday, Feb 10th. This forum has had a rocky past, but it just doesn’t seem to want to die. We have a core group of long-time members and hope to soon meet a whole lot of new faces that we can hassle… I mean, befriend!

The Fifthwind is complete. The files are approved and the first physical proof is in the mail on the way to me as I type this! As long as I don’t see anything glaringly wrong with it, the approval will be quick, and the book should launch publicly within three weeks! I certainly hope you get a copy, enjoy it, and tell a million friends about it. In the meantime, here is a close up look at the cover art, front and back:
